The most likely cause is you need to upgrade your browser. See What kind of hardware and software do I need to play the games?

The Java games take a little time to load. If you are using a 28.8 Kbs modem, the games should load in about 1 to 2 minutes the first time you play.

If you get a screen which says "You need a Java-compatible browser to play this game", then you may not have the proper software or hardware. Check our hardware/software FAQ. If you have the correct configuration, your Java Support may be turned off. Check your browser "properties" per the hardware/software FAQ to make sure you have not disabled Java.

If the game screen comes up but none of the game-functions work, try to reload the games: Hold down the left shift key and at the same time click on reload. This should re-start the games.

If the games still won't work, you will need to clear your cache and re-start your browser. Do the following, then completely shut down all your browser windows, (including email), restart, then reconnect:

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5 Service Pack 2 (and above): Click View...Internet Options ... General ... Temporary Internet Files: Click the Delete Files button.

Netscape version 4: Click Edit...Preferences Advanced...Cache. There are two buttons : 'Clear Memory Cache' and 'Clear Disk Cache'. You need to do both.

If the games play but then freeze up, but the rest of your computer is OK, you may need to shut down your browser and restart your computer. This is the result of Microsofts memory management system. It is inconsistent and this only affects some computers. If this happes you will need to close all the browser windows, including email, and then restart your computer, reconnect and then re-enter the games.
